Can you relate to this scenario that one of our MACT Award Mama Testers shared below?
“It was always challenging for me to find a toothpaste that didn’t contain all those harmful additives. In the grocery store I would stand there staring at all the top shelf brands and worry about what I would be putting into my child’s mouth.
Never once did something end up in my cart unless it was fluoride free, and that proved to be challenging to find at times too.
When I was asked to test out the kid’s toothpaste from The Honest Company I was beyond thrilled. Something that was from a company that was all about natural ways of making products to aide in healthier families.”
Honest Company’s Toothpaste WINS the prestigious MACT EXCELLENCE AWARD today for oh so many reasons! Keep reading to find out more about this high-quality toothpaste for kids. A award-winning product you can trust!
Why The Honest Company’s KIDS Toothpaste Wins MACT Excellence Award:
Honest Kid’s toothpaste is all-natural and fluoride free!
Fluoride free is huge for us here at MACT Awards. Not only is fluoride toothpaste poisonous to a child if too much is swallowed accidentally, fluoride is also responsible for the rise of dental fluorosis as well. Also, fluoride can make its way through membranes in the mouth to a child’s develping brain, causing behavioral and developmental concerns.
Here are a couple other ingredients to keep out of your child’s mouth and that are commonly found in toothpastes:
- Sodium Laurel Sulfates (SLS): used to make the toothpaste sudsy
- Triclosan: a synthetic, broad-spectrum anti-microbial agent
Honest Kid’s Toothpaste naturally promotes healthy teeth & gums for optimal dental hygiene. We truly appreciate that Honest’s all-natural toothpaste for kids DOES contain:
- Calcium: helps protect & strengthen tooth enamel
- Baking soda & natural silica: gently polish & brighten teeth
- Organic aloe, organic ginger & bisabolol: helps soothe gum irritation
- Specially formulated all natural strawberry flavor for kids (big & small) – great tasting and yummy & safer on tummy.
Honest also promises:
- No harsh chemicals (ever!)
- Absolutely no artificial sweeteners, flavors or dyes.
- Natural, Vegan & Biodegradable
Reviews For Honest Company Fluoride Free Toothpaste
Mama Testers Feedback:
“From our first experience with Honest Kid’s Toothpaste it was fun! My daughter is 4 years old and is very picky about flavors and brushing teeth usually takes a lot of bribery. So when she said, “Mommy this is so yummy,” that to me meant it was a sure keeper! I can finally say she asks to brush her teeth with the ‘yummy’ toothpaste, and I love the sweet smell her mouth has afterwards. Its kid approved in our household.”
“I like how a little amount foams very well in a child’s mouth, which just screams clean! Unlike some leading brands they don’t produce much foam through the brushing process and it always made me feel that her teeth were never clean enough. I don’t have to worry about that anymore, with The Honest Company Kids Toothpaste I am certain with every brush stroke germs are being removed from my kiddo’s teeth and gums.”
“We are all smiles with Honest Kid’s Toothpaste. My child likes the strawberry taste, and I greatly appreciate the integrity of this company and the fact that this toothpaste is void of harmful substances.”
Our Q&A With The Honest Company Regarding Their Toothpaste
We still had a couple questions and Honest Company happily answered them!
It says children under 6 should be supervised to minimize swallowing, with this being fluoride free, why is this a concern?
Great question! Frankly speaking, it shouldn’t be an issue at all if a child swallows our toothpaste. We simply put that on our label because it’s an industry best practice and because toothpaste – no matter how natural and safe – isn’t meant for eating.
Where does fluoride sourced from that is found in most common kid’s toothpastes?
Fluoride used in kid’s toothpastes comes from one of three sources approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration: stannous fluoride, sodium fluoride, or sodium monofluorophosphate (MFP). All are made from hydrofluoric acid.
Why doesn’t the Honest Company use a better recyclable plastic like #2 or a biodegradable tube?
We chose a laminate tube for optimal ease of use. A #2 tube of polyethelyne material would make it very hard to squeeze out the product, and it would likely get stuck in the tube and be difficult to squeeze out. However, we’re always looking at ways to improve the sustainability and recyclability of our packaging and are even looking into a special program to help Honest customers recycle these tubes if they don’t have facilities easily available to them.
We ask Honest why they wouldn’t use a better recyclable plastic like for example #2 or a biodegradable tube and this is the response we received, so be on the lookout for more breakthrough packaging integrity from them too:
