The Omega-3, -6 and -9 fatty acids are all important and essential for a child’s health. It is primarily a matter of the right amounts and balance. Omega-3 oils supply DHA and EPA. DHA is the primary fatty acid that is found in the brain and every brain cell requires DHA to grow and function properly. EPA is primarily involved in regulating the body’s anti-inflammatory immune response. Omega-6 oils supply GLA which is also considered an essential fatty acid and works with EPA to maintain balance in the anti-inflammatory/inflammatory immune response system.
ChildLife® provides three products that supply these essential fatty acids; a vegetarian Essential Fatty Acid complex, Cod Liver Oil in liquid form and Pure DHA in a softgel chewable capsule.
- ChildLife® Essential Fatty Acids provides the omega-3 oils from all vegetarian sources: flaxseed, sunflower, olive and pumpkin seed. This will provide your child with the essential omega-3 fatty acids, primarily in the form of EPA. However, your child’s body will then need to convert some of these fatty acids into DHA, which is the fatty acid so involved and important for brain function.
- ChildLife® Cod Liver Oil provides the omega-3 oils derived from the liver of Cod fish. The difference here is that Cod Liver Oil contains EPA and DHA in a form that is ready for immediate absorption and does not need to be converted as with the Essential Fatty Acid formula.
- ChildLife® Pure DHA provides the same Cod Liver Oil as in our liquid formula, with the EPA and DHA immediately ready for absorption, but in a flavored chewable soft-gel capsule for those children who prefer to take their Cod Liver Oil in this form.

Why Our Children Need Supplements & Natural Immune Boosting Support
Why Supplements Are Important by Dr. Murray Clarke, ND., D.Hom., L.Ac
In my clinic as a homeopathic pediatrician, my efforts are dedicated to understanding what promotes health. This includes what causes, what prevents, as well as what heals the diverse conditions affecting our children. Careful nurturing through the formative years creates the basis for good health throughout life. On the physical level, this means a healthful diet and nutritional supplements.
- Studies from around the world show that modern farming methods have resulted in depleted soil conditions. Hence, the foods grown on that soil no longer contain the full spectrum of essential nutrients needed for healthy development, strong immune function and emotional and mental vitality.
- Fast foods, junk foods, processed foods, poor dietary habits, and the finicky appetites of many children also require nutritional supplementation to correct, and balance nutritional deficiencies.
- The extraordinary increase in exposure to environmental pollutants and toxicity from this century’s industrial pursuits creates the need for extra immune and anti-oxidant protection for today’s children.
A child who does not receive enough of all the essential vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids will be much more prone to a wide variety of illnesses. I developed the ChildLife® line of nutritional supplements to increase awareness about these deficiencies and their consequences, and to provide all the necessary ingredients in a great tasting and readily available form.
The body and mind developed during childhood create the foundation for the rest of your child’s life. It is my hope that ChildLife Essentials® will play an ongoing role in developing and maintaining many healthful and hopeful lives.
