Do cell phones really impact health? How?
And if the health effects are so bad, why don’t we hear more about it?
On November 30, 2015, Dr. Devra Davis, extensively-credentialed and award-winning scientist and founder of Environmental Health Trust, gave a Dean’s Lecture at the Melbourne School of Engineering, University of Melbourne entitled “The Truth About Mobile Phone and Wireless Radiation: What We Know, What We Need to Find Out, And What You Can Do Now.” With permission from the University of Melbourne to post her lecture, we have edited her presentation to bring you information we feel everyone should know.
The bottom line is yes, cell phones can be very harmful. The concern is so great that more than 140 physicians, scientists and public health professionals from around the world have joined together to support the BabySafe Project to urge pregnant women to limit their exposure to cell phone radiation.

Dr. Davis highly recommends following these steps to reduce exposure:
- Avoid carrying your mobile phone on your body (e.g. in a pocket or bra)
- Avoid holding any mobile phone against your body when in use (i.e. against your head)
- Use your mobile phone on loud speaker or with an “air tube” headset
- Put your mobile phone on ‘airplane mode’ when not in use
- Avoid using your mobile phone in cars, trains or elevators
- Keep mobile phones away from you when you are asleep (out of the bedroom)
