Honestly, sometimes it really is the simplest things that make the biggest differences. Like the way ChildLife® has so exquisitely formulated a fluoride-free alternative to the traditional toothpaste. Ever since we began using this revolutionary product, ChildLife’s® Toothpaste Tablets, our bathroom sink and counter tops have been toothpaste-streaked-free! Yipee!

Ok, ok, if that one feature was really all we enjoyed about this product, we would not be as geeked out as we are to share this news with you. (However, any little help in keeping the bathroom clean is any mama’s dream come true.)

But, we are stoked to shout out today that we have found a fluoride-free toothpaste that our children love. Well, it’s not a toothpaste, it’s a TABLET!

Toothpaste Tablets are Safe to Swallow

Another feature that we think is outrageously fabulous about this toothpaste tablet is that your child can SAFELY swallow it! They were specifically designed for this routine.

What do small kids do best? Swallow toothpaste. The ADA would like you to believe otherwise and pretend kids do not swallow toothpaste. Anyone who has children knows, kids swallow toothpaste.

Swallowing the ChildLife® Essentials Toothpaste Tablet is absolutely safe. In fact, it could even be beneficial because of the antiviral and antibacterial properties. Cranberry is a fruit and Xylitol is made derived from the fiber of fruits and vegetables. It is used in numerous food items and has been considered safe since the 1970’s. Conventional fluoride toothpaste is not recommended safe to swallow* (please see below).

Does Your Toothpaste Come With a Warning Label?

Fluoride Warning Label: WARNING. Keep out of the reach of children under 6 years of age. If you accidentally swallow more than used for brushing, seek professional assistance or contact a Poison Control Center immediately. As with other toothpaste, if irritation occurs discontinue use.

ChildLife’s® Toothpaste Tablets do not come with a warning label! Hence, we were so overjoyed about finding this safe alternative, that we personally interviewed Dr. Murray Clarke, the founder of ChildLife® Essentials, to find out more. What we learned excited us so, that we have to share!

Is Your Child’s Toothpaste Free of These Toxins?

Why did you formulate the toothpaste tablets?

First and foremost, I formulated the CHILDLIFE® ESSENTIALS Toothpaste tablets for the safety of children: to provide children a non-toxic form of toothpaste. *

All natural and safer than conventional fluoride toothpaste! CHILDLIFE® ESSENTIALS Toothpaste Tablets for children are made from all natural, pure ingredients:

  • Preservative-Free
  • Gluten-Free
  • Alcohol-Free
  • Dye-Free
  • Dairy-Free
  • No Artificial Colorings or Flavorings; and

The active ingredients are Exocyan Cran® a patented cranberry extract and Xylitol.

Preventing Tooth Decay Naturally

Why did you choose the ingredients xylitol and cranberry extract?

Toothpaste Tablets contain ingredients which are the most effective at reducing plaque and preventing tooth decay in children without all the harmful side effects associated with conventional toothpaste. The combination of cranberry extract and xylitol are the perfect choice. In clinical studies by the University of Bordeaux, they found that cranberry extract reduces plaque and prevents tooth decay. Xylitol also stands by itself and has numerous studies since the 70s regarding its effectiveness in reducing tooth decay.

We all know that when eating cranberries, or blueberries for that matter, the red and blue colors stain our teeth with a coating. The preventative action of the cranberry extract works in this same way, as it provides the teeth with a layer of protection which inhibits and prevents plague from forming. To stop the teeth from turning red, Toothpaste Tablets uses a patented formulation of cranberry extract named Exocyan Cran® which is harvested before the red tannins are formed in the fruit when the cranberry is crystal white. In addition, cranberry extract has both antiviral and antibacterial properties which assist in plaque removal.

The Importance of Fluoride-Free Toothpaste

Why no fluoride?

The US Government, FDA, CDC, American College of Toxicology and other research institutions such as the University of Georgia School of Medicine, along with many pediatric dentists, hygienists, holistic pediatric dentists and parents continue to express concerns regarding the potential toxicity in the common ingredients found in all conventional fluoride toothpaste. The main one being fluoride! However, there are several other ingredients specifically when these chemicals (normally made for adult strength) are applied to developing children’s daily hygiene routines. These chemicals have direct access through the mucosal lining of the mouth and have been found in other areas of the body, including the child’s developing brain, which can interfere with numerous cognitive, behavioral and development functions.

Due to public awareness and the rise in dental fluorosis, the FDA now requires a significant warning on all fluoride toothpaste which basically advises parents to contact the Poison Control Center, if your child swallows too much toothpaste with fluoride. There are three ingredients specifically found in the vast majority of conventional commercial toothpaste which fall into this category:

  • Fluoride;
  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate; and
  • Triclosan.

Toxins Readily Found in Toothpaste

Fluoride: Fluoride is a major cause of fluorosis in children. A July 1998 report for The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry states that at least 22% of all American children now have dental fluorosis as a result of ingesting too much fluoride. Fluorosis is light spots and discoloration forming on developing teeth of children. In advanced cases, pitting of teeth can occur.

Sodium Laurel Sulfate: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is another ingredient which can be toxic to children. Adverse effects of SLS are well documented. It is widely accepted that SLS is a skin irritant, (actually used in clinical testing as an irritant) is a cause of ulcerations to the mucosal lining of the mouth and other areas of the body, both externally and internally. A study from the University of Georgia School of Medicine showed SLS can permeate the eyes, brain, heart and liver which can interfere with function and development, especially in child development ages. SLS is commonly used for pesticides, toothpastes, shampoos and other body care products to engine degreasers.

Triclosan:  Triclosan is a biocide/pesticide included in many types of personal care items and toothpaste which can cause an increase in allergies, skin irritation and GI irritation in children. The FDA approved the use of triclosan in soaps, personal care items, pesticides and toothpaste, however admits on their website the approval was granted before studies contraindicating its use. The FDA’s website states: animal studies have shown that triclosan alters hormone regulation. Other information indicates triclosan interferes with the thyroid and endocrine system and causes inhalation toxicity. Other studies in bacteria have claimed that triclosan contributes to making bacteria resistant to antibiotics. Based on these studies and other information, the FDA is reevaluating triclosan and its use in personal care use as well as biocide /insecticide use.

Artificial Food Coloring: This is often included in conventional toothpastes are FD & C Blue Dye # 1 & 2. Correlation has associated allergies, asthma, headaches, behavioral, early learning and developmental problems in susceptible children. These flourometic compound dyes are mainly derived from synthetic chemistry and based on petrochemicals.

Saccharin: Saccharin has been assumed, as far back as the 1970’s, as a potential carcinogen and also interferes with enzyme production or breaking down to formaldehyde-type compounds as a process of mobilization.

Anything else you would like to share?

Family Health: The conventional tube of fluoride toothpaste puts the entire family at risk for microbial transmission of viruses and bacteria from children swiping their toothbrushes directly on the tube of toothpaste. Toothpaste tablets are sanitary and alleviate this issue as well as the unsightly glob of gooey unused toothpaste around the tip of the tube of toothpaste, the sink, floor, clothes, towels, etc.

Delivery Method: Provides children a delivery method which is easy, fun and very effective. Single dose: parents can now provide their child 1 tablet, instead of worrying about the amount of toothpaste to use, and more specifically, the amount of toothpaste (chemicals) their child may swallow. No mess, no fuss, 1 tablet, perfect for school, going to friends homes & traveling.

More Effective: By the very nature of chewing, parents are assured with the Toothpaste Tablets that their child will get the proper ingredients up into the crevices of the back teeth where it is needed to help remove plaque, inhibit tooth decay and prevent cavities. Getting children to brush the back teeth has proven the second most difficult tasks moms have in oral health with conventional toothpaste. The first is getting them to brush at all.

Innovation: ChildLife® Essentials Toothpaste Tablets are the first real advancement and innovation in toothpaste in over 200 years. The Toothpaste Tablets are easy to use and taste fantastic which actually has children asking to brush their teeth. Toothpaste Tablets are increasing the frequency, the consistency and the quality in which children are brushing their teeth, which leads to optimum health in children’s oral hygiene.

*CHILDLIFE® ESSENTIALS is not making any claims, statement or taking a position on the above. Notations are to point out young children are susceptible to low-level toxins in early adolescence. Known potential chemical compounds which are listed above are commonly manufactured in conventional toothpastes. Exposure based on non-dose related product, as paste forms of dentifrice, could offer potential reactions in children if swallowed and at the very least which is not the primary design or purpose of dental products for youth and adults.

ChildLife® Toothpaste Tablets

CHILDLIFE® ESSENTIALS formulated the all natural Toothpaste Tablets with all natural and safe ingredients that are absolutely safe even when swallowed. This alone takes the burden off parent’s shoulders and eliminates the worry parents have regarding any possible toxic reactions, effects or permanent disability their child may obtain by avoiding all these potential dangers in the first place! My analogy is this: Do you let your child cross the street in the middle of traffic, where there is a greater possibility of serious injury when a few feet away there is a pedestrian walkway which eliminates the potential dangerous traffic (cars & trucks) and goes over traffic, which is absolutely safe for crossing. ChildLife Essentials® all natural toothpaste tablets is that safe walkway! Eliminating the potentially dangerous chemicals and providing a safer pathway. Moms and dads have enough to worry about!

If you need to amp up your child’s enthusiasm for brushing their teeth, give this product a try!

Suggested Use: For Children 3 – 12 yrs: 1 tablet, 2x daily. Chew, brush, rinse.
